Here you define the different delivery service to be available on your ecommerce site.
“Service Maintenance”, you will be provided with a table of the current services you provide for delivery. Above the table on the left side of the screen is “New”, this will be for when inputting the details for a service.
In the table you will see a breakdown for the details of each service, “Service code”, “Description”, “Lead Time Days”, “Cut Off Time”, “Stock”, “Calculation Type”, “Free Delivery”, and finally “Delivery Days”.
I will use “Edit” as an example of how to create a “New” service as both will provide you with identical information.
“Service Edit”, here you can adjust a service’s setting.
Service Code: will be the name for the service, this will be displayed in “Delivery Charges” and “Carrier Assignment Rules”.
Description: this will be the name will be displayed in “Delivery Charges”. ”Deliver Lead Time” is a feature that will need to be setup before using, what this can do is if products are out of stock during checkout it can add a set amount of days to the delivery calculation.
Deliver Cut Off Time: we recommended to set this to a specific time, if this is left at 00:00 (midnight) it will add a day to delivery time as you are always ordering after midnight.
Stock: you can set this service to be viable for customers depending on the stock of the product ordered. “Calculation Type” will affects the way that the shipping cost is calculated.
Free Delivery Qualify value: use this to trigger the service as free once the order has reached a set value, enter the price point at which to take affect and then tick to confirm as active.
Delivery Days: the days that will be used when calculating when the customer will receive their order, this works by the system referencing with the days set in "Areas" to work out a delivery day to be presented to the customer.
Specific: Customer specific Carrier Codes. Carrier Codes not available to any any other customer. If you tick this box, this service will not be listed in the drop down on basket and checkout pages. The service will only be available to customers that have this services assigned to their User record. (see also API's)
Override: Only used together with ODS Telesales product. Service codes with Override, allows telesales operator to override the calculcated shipping charge and enter any agreed amount. (this feature has no relevance for ecommerce customers).
