An Order confirmation email will be sent to a user upon placing an order,
the confirmations and other emails are managed via templated stored in Admin.
To Find the templates, Admin > Content Management > Web Contents >Email Templates
Based on the content entered the email sent to customers will be different.
For example some customers choose to have both the billing and shipping address displayed.
While others choose to display only the shipping and have a simpler design
